Dates to suit your adventure
Hotel, Full Board
We use the excellent hotel in Appelby in Westmorland, The Tufton Arms. This hotel is ideally situated for us to base ourselves there for the whole week.
Culture
Traditional English Pubs and Teahouses : Wildlife Identification Booklet.
Second to none Impala Support
You will have the acclaimed Impala Support Teams on hand at any difficult spots along the way
River Crossings
We have three river crossings on this adventure. You will cross the River South Tyne just north of Alston, The River Eden at Appelby and also near Kirkby Stephen. There will be an Impala Support car at the crossings to guide you across and they will already have ‘tested the water’
England’s Highest Green Lane
One of the highlights of this adventure is traveling over the highest lane in England from Teesdale to Weardale. You will also drive lanes in Wensleydale, Garsdale and in Lakeland’s famous Grizedale Forest. Northumberland is also high-moor country full of rare breeding birds in the spring and summer. You will probably see Black Grouse, Curlew and Lapwings.
Lanes and Byways
All of the lanes and byways that we use are carfully researched and driven before the adventure by our support teams. We use the GLASS website TW2 which has all of the rights of way in the UK documented with their legal status as well as any relevant notes on condition and other considerations.
