On our Welsh Treasure Hunt in the snow and ice between Christmas and The New Year of 2009 our support car was a Transyberia Cayenne. This was because I had hoped to be able to buy one to use alongside the blue Range Rover in The Sahara as well as here in Wales and England.

Many of the Treasure Hunter’s looked one with disbelief as I arrived at The Hafod Arms in a Porsche and pulled my leg continually as to whether this car was actually a real 4×4. The routes for the hunt took the Cayenne along Strata Florida and Soya Myndd with the covering of ice and snow testing not only the Cayenne but also my and everyone else’s skill at Off Road driving. The Cayenne was not found wanting at all and by the hunts finish all were mightily impressed with the cars ability.

One meeting that Louise and I had was with a group of Landrover 90’s at the river section on Strata Florida: they could not believe their eyes when they saw the Cayenne climb the slippery rocks without a trace of wheel spin and I am sure, wondered if the excesses of Christmas had sent their minds into a delirious state!! In fact one of the drivers was a friend of mine who smiled at the confusion we had caused to the other drivers.
