Goodwood Festival of Speed Cayenne Experience
Every June I enjoy four days at The Goodwood Festival of Speed, drifting a Cayenne S around a field. This picture is on day one and shows the Sand Yellow coloured car slightly splattered with mud after a run on the freshly watered field.
These cars are completely standard machines and in fact the ones that we have enjoyed over the last three years are pre-production models that the Experience Centre at Silverstone “borrowed” from The Germans!!! for an undetermined amount of time. I often wonder if at Leipzig there is someone in procurement who occasionally scratches his or her head trying to remember where these pre production cars are.
In the middle of this field is an oak tree and it is fun to flick the car around the tree and I always try to keep the car sideways for as much of each lap as I can. The weather can make our displays very interesting and I can remember years where we have had difficulty seeing out of the windows. Doesn’t slow us down though, just makes it more exciting as you search for clues – the perimeter wooden fence, The Old Oak tree in the middle and the straw bales that are there to protect the tractor that puts water onto the ground when it is too dry and dusty.
Almost before the dust has settled, I am looking forward to the next year
