On The Beach
“Time and Tide wait for no man”. This is a famous saying attributed to whom I do not know but this saying often amuses me, especially when we are in such a situation as you can see in the picture.
The place is Morocco, south of the small fishing port of Sidi Ifni and the time is early afternoon, which is of no consequence as far as the saying is concerned, because time was not of the essence for us that day.
The tide was more pressing as we had arrived at a point in its “going out” that could have caused us a few problems on The Beach. The potential problem was at this small headland which you can see I am standing on that jutted out into the sand, no more than thirty feet or so, but this meant that if one of the cars had mis-timed its passing the resulting Atlantic roller could have caused some problems, maybe even a car ending one.
We did wait, but only for a gap in the waves. When the gap appeared I waved each car by, enthusiastically it must be said, because there was a certain urgency as we only had enough time to clear the rocks and get back up onto a firmer dryer sand, before The Atlantic tried to claim some more debris. You will be pleased to know that everyone made it through safely.
